The Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme at UMT is designed for students who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in the respective areas. Enrollments include practitioners from various industries and levels, which allow students to engage in critical discussions in the classroom.

More importantly for an industry-relevant degree such as MBA, several of PPPPM lecturers have professional and industry experiences in the fields of accounting, business, finance and investments, and logistics, which further enhances the quality of our MBA via teaching and research.

Knowledge Enhancement

Integrated approach that combines core courses, elective courses and a project paper. Elective courses are offered according to the area of concentration such as Strategic Management, Marketing, Islamic Finance, Maritime Logistics and Transport; and Logistics and Supply Chain. For a MBA graduate, acquiring additional expertise in any of the specified area of knowledge will potentially open the door to career advancement and opportunities.

MBA Electives Courses

By completing the core courses, students are required to select one of the following four specialized elective courses:

  • Strategic Management,
  • Finance,
  • Marketing, or
  • Maritime Logistics and Transport/Logistic and Supply Chain

Students can also enroll in a Project Paper (MGM 6999) elective course to do research in the related specializations above. For potential research supervisors, see our list of experts.The Project Paper course is especially beneficial not only for those who wish to pursue their PhDs, but also, to equip graduates with crucial knowledge of research in the relevant fields.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor degree with CGPA 2.50 and above; or
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent with CGPA below 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years working experience in related field as accepted by the Senate; or
  • A bachelor’s degree or any other academic qualification in related field and possesses evidence of adequate work experience recognized by the Senate; or
  • An international candidate must have a score of 500 in TOEFL or Band 5.5 for IELTS or a proof of adequate command of English specified by the respective school.

Programme Duration

There are two modes of study for UMT MBA (full-time or part-time), and the duration required to complete the programme depends on these modes:

  • Minimum of four semesters (16 months) for full-time*, or six semesters (24 months) for part-time or;
  • Maximum of eight semesters (32 months) for full-time, or 12 semesters (48 months) for part-time.
    • Part Time: Registered for less than nine (9) credits in a semester/module with a minimum of three (3) credits or one course (whichever is applicable).
    • Full Time: Registered for at least nine (9) credits in a semester/module. The maximum credit load is 15. Applicants who are sponsored must register as full time students

  • Application will only be processed on receipt of full supporting documentation required.
  • All application received will be processed and successful applicants will be notified without delay.
  • Recommendations by two (2) academic referees (sealed) for students with degree other than that conferred by UMT.
  • Please include any other relevant documents e.g. Curriculum vitae, supporting letter(s) and professional certificates (if any).

For Malaysian Applicant

  • A certificate true copy of National Identification Card (NIC).
  • A certified true copy of complete transcripts of undergraduate degree courses and certificates.
  • Payments slip for application fee for the amount of RM25.

For International Applicant

  • A certificate true copy of International Passport.
  • A bank guarantee or sponsorship letter.
  • A certified true copy of complete transcripts of undergraduate degree courses and certificates. English translated copy of the transcripts must also be provided by the awarding university.
  • Payments slip for application fee for the amount of USD25.
